Valwood volleyball hammered Frederica in three sets (25-4, 25-7, 25-19) to capture the team’s first region win Thursday.
The Valiants dominated the game from the first serve, going on a 21 to 3 run to take control early.
Senior middle, Erin Moss served for 11 straight points in the first set, running a total of six aces. In the second set, the Valiants continued to smother the Knights with an intimidating 0.667 hitting efficiency from the front row, spearheaded by sophomore setter, Kennedy Kimbro’s eight assists.
In the third set, the Valwood line up featured several young players looking to prove their power on the court. Freshmen Ellie Griner and Marleigh Carson fortified the Valiants serve receive with the passing rate of 2.5 out of 3, and freshman setter Anna Alvarado earned an impressive nine assists. bJunior Gracyn Sanderlin anchored the front row with three kills on five attempts. The Valiants improved their record to 1-0 in the region and 8–1 overall.
Their next game will be a road match Tuesday against Colquitt County at 4:30 p.m.
