Valwood sophomores, Jack Melendez and Destyn Lain, were selected to attend the Multicultural Student Leadership Conference at Georgia College & State University this summer. Jack and Destyn were nominated by members of the Valwood upper school faculty. Following their nominations, they submitted an application. Requirements for the program include a 3.5 GPA or higher, having leadership potential or being a leader on campus, plans to attend college, and must be a current sophomore.
According to conference website, “Students who participate in the conference will learn about leadership through interactive sessions, student panels, and collaborative projects. They will be given an opportunity to see a glimpse of college life by staying in the GCSU residence halls, interacting with current students, and eating in the student dining hall. Student participants will leave with strengthened leadership skills and a deeper understanding of how the GCSU liberal arts mission enhances leadership.”
The MSLC will take place Wednesday, July 10 through Friday, July 12 in Milledgeville, GA on the Georgia College & State University campus. Congratulations Jack and Destyn!
