HAHIRA — Eighth graders from Valwood School took a tour of the White House on Feb. 27.
The White House tour was one of many stops during the week-long academic field trip in Washington, D.C.. The trip was a culminating activity for their American Studies class, a history and literature course only offered at Valwood, a Valwood press release stated.
The annual trip changes every year and the White House tour is not always a part of the trip as special permission is required.
“Valwood School’s small class sizes allow our students to experience these academic field trips that they will remember for a lifetime,” according to the press release.
Eighth grader Lilia Ward said, “Valwood has given us a unique opportunity to go and see Washington, D.C. The trip relates back to material learned in both history and literature classes and to actual places and experiences. This trip has not only been exciting but also educational and informative.”
