The Valwood volleyball team defeated the Sherwood Christian Eagles in straight sets (25-11, 25-20, 25-14) Thursday night.
Using “chewis,” a word the Valiants use as a reminder to let go of past mistakes and move forward, Valwood rallied in the second set and regained control the rest of the way en route to the victory.
Valwood generated six aces, 13 kills and two blocks, earning 21 of 25 points in the opening set.
Errors were costly for the Valiants in the second set, as they lost some momentum. Then, sophomore Korrine Johnson yelled, “chewis,” and the team regained control of the set and the match.
Senior Erin Moss finished with 20 kills, four blocks and five digs. Sophomore setter Kennedy Kimbro earned 35 assists and four digs. Freshman Anna Alvarado totaled six aces.
The Valiants improved to 10-1. Their next match is against First Presbyterian Christian Academy in Hinesville on Thursday.
