Tayte Barry homered in the fourth inning and the Valwood baseball team amassed 13 hits in a 14-4 blowout win against the Brooks County Trojans on Thursday night.
JM McRae led Valwood’s batters with a 3 for 3 performance at the plate, two RBIs and scored two runs. Mason Williams had two hits and four RBIs, Mac McRae finished with two hits and scored two runs and Colby McGee had two hits and two RBIs. Jaharie Boone recorded three RBIs.
Dane Fafard earned the win in 3 innings. He surrendered six hits, four runs, struck out four and walked none.
The victory was the Valiants’ third in a row.
The Trojans dropped their ninth straight and were limited to seven hits Thursday. Alex Munoz led the team with two hits. Mac Perry offered two RBIs.
Munoz tossed 4 1/3 innings in a losing effort. He allowed 12 hits for 14 runs.
McGee’s sacrifice fly scored the game’s tying run in the second inning before the Valiants pulled ahead for good on a Boone single that scored Dane Fafard. JM McRae doubled and Williams hit a single to right field to extend the advantage to 6-2 heading into the third.
Perry hit a grounder to left to score a run and bring the Trojans within 8-4 in the fourth.
Barry’s homer to left lifted Valwood to a comfortable 10-4 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
Valwood hosts Madison County (Fla.) for senior night Monday.
