The Valwood baseball team grabbed the lead late in the eighth inning, earning an 11-5 win against the Deerfield-Windsor Knights in Albany on Friday night.
With the game tied at five in the eighth, the Valiants (5-2, 1-1 GISA Region 3-3A) scored the go-ahead run courtesy of a Tayte Barry double. Additional runs resulted from a Caleb Burns double and two errors.
Barry had three hits and scored two runs with an RBI for Valwood. Burns had two hits, scored two runs and added four RBIs. Jaharie Boone recorded two RBIs and scored a run, and Mason Williams chipped in two hits, an RBI and scored a run.
Tommy Davis earned the win for the Valiants, allowing one run with five strikeouts and a walk in four innings.
Valwood had 13 hits, while the Knights (4-3, 1-1) had five.
