HAHIRA — Valwood School theatre students are ready to take audiences on a magic carpet ride.
The school presents a stage adaptation of Disney’s “Aladdin,” said Phyllis Childree, Valwood theatre director.
The show has the “junior” designation meaning it is an abbreviated version formatted to be performed by children or youths.
But it is still the live musical based on the 1992 animated movie that featured the voice of Robin Williams as the Genie. The stage version also features several songs from the movie which was later adapted into a Broadway show.
Childree said Valwood has adapted the play further, condensing its running time so it can be used as the school’s competitive performance piece in one-act play competition.
Valwood will also present the show to the public twice. Performances are scheduled 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the school.
